Trailers offer a kind of narrative pornography, the trailer is the equivalent to the opening of a film.
Late arrivals shouldn't be admitted to cinema showings as the beginning add a sense of mystery.Film openings attract an audience by grabbing the audience in the first five minutes by making the audience believe that they are in for some sort of ride, they do this by making the intro seem as interesting as possible. Another method they use to do this is by making audience believe that they are in control of the movie, for example if you watch the first 5 minutes of a movie you would want to believe that certain characters make it to the end because they are your favourite character however the don't usually make it.Another method used is 'keeping the audience anxious' this  deceives the audience by establishing a tone that makes the audience guess the genre for example if in the first 5 minutes you see a silhouette of someone walking and murdering people you are going to start assuming the movie is a horror when it could easily be used for a comedic purpose. Lastly the music behind the movie company also drags the audience in as this will make them excited for the movie, most people get excited when the hear the Columbia pictures anthem.
