Blog Post2-Preliminary Task Evaluation

Evaluation

Our preliminary activity task was to create a short film including one location, one object and a maximum of two actors.
I believe that throughout the different stages of the project, I've developed different skills.
During the planing of our short film, I was responsible for creating the storyboard, which required a good knowledge of the different types of shots; (wide, close up, long, over the shoulder, etc),good drawing skills and imagination.

I also took part in the shooting of the film, it involved setting up the tripod, making sure that the right angles are used for each shot, choosing the right lighting and following the storyboard.
I didn't find any of the tasks challenging as I've done Media Studies at GCSE, so I think that I contributed to the filming successfully.
However, we had to re-film some of the shots due to people in the way, background sounds, one of the actors looking at the camera and misplaced objects.

For the editing of our preliminary task, I learned how to remove the audio and add music to some parts of the film. I think that one of our strengths during the editing was the match cut as it turned out really professional looking.

Overall, I am strongly confident that our first attempt at creating a short film was successful, as our storyline was made clear and easy to understand, we've effectively used match cuts and followed the 180 degree rule.
Although in two of the shots the lighting wasn't quite matching, we applied our editing skills and tried to make it as discrete as possible.
I believe that the preliminary task that we were set helped us to identify our strengths and weaknesses, helped us develop new skills and will tell us key mistakes to avoid while working on the real project.
