Analysis of 2 film title sequences
For my analysis of the two title sequences,I've chosen "Halloween" and "Iron Man 3".
The opening title of "Halloween" starts without any narrative, but instrumental music, which sounds like scratching and ticking and it attracts the audience's attention, making them feel tension due to the ticking being associated with a bomb that is about to explode. Therefore, the viewers will assume that something is bad about to happen and will make them even more passionate to watch the movie. The way in which the title sequence is structured is simple-a pitch black screen and music. However, it creates a ghostly and mysterious atmosphere.
Black connotes death and fear, which leads the audience to think that supernatural events will occur, which relates to the title.
The way in which the production credits and actors are presented is in the same format, the writing fades in with bold red, turns to dark orange and then a lighter shade of orange and back to red. It's assumed that red is used to connote blood, whereas orange connotes heat.
The headings are always in the middle, which shows their importance and relevance, catches the viewers' attention and highlights the important elements of the design.
