Post9-Different Categories of Title Sequences

There are 4 main categories of title sequence:



1.Titles on a blank screen
-have high contrast
-are really simple
-are usually fast
-the music gives sense of the genre
-low budget
An example could be "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock:




2.Titles on still images
-the images give a sense of the genre and theme
-they have longer credits
-they require combining different media
-often edited to the beat
An example is "Wimbledon":




3.Titles over moving images
-there is no dialogue
-the moving image can be a metaphor or a narrative thread
An example is "Rear Window", where the windows are used
to represent a cage.




4.Titles using animation or motion
-they use animated text
-the title is usually in art form
-they require standardised editing
-graphics are usually related to the theme
An example is "Catch me if you can":
